Eat Fresh Eat Local at IHS

This was a blessing to offer this healthy fresh meal to the wonderful folks at IHS. Connie Mitchell , Executive Director at IHS said it best, “I am so grateful to Laulima Ecofriendly Alliance of Farms (LEAF) for helping our IHS Meal Program staff serve up an onolicious all-local vegetarian lunch for our two homeless shelters today. Fabulous Cheese Broccoli Quiche, local greens doused in a lovely homemade dressing, fresh baked whole wheat rolls and a papaya crunch dessert that would knock your rubber zoris off! A minty ginger ice tea was a great cooler for a very hot day. How blessed we were for the loving hearts and hands that created a wonderfully healthy, impressively tasty and faithfully local grown meal. Mahalo nui loa to Down To Earth, Poamoho Organic and Ho Farm who supplied most of the fresh produce for the meal and Govinda’s for allowing use of your kitchen. The gastronomical experience inspired us to consider serving a local vegetarian meal at least once a month, resources permitting. Another seed has been planted!”   LEAF is looking forward  to taking up this inspired challenge to provide a vegetarian meal on a monthly basis . If you want to help with a donation or to volunteer, please contact us at leafhawaii@gmail.com, Mahalo nui loa!
