Why do people go hungry here in Hawaii where there is sufficient fertile land, rainwater, year-round sunshine, certainly more than ample resources to supply bountiful fresh food for everyone?
We invite you to support our compelling vision at LEAF to train many potential growers from our at-risk population, on vacant lots of land, as well as farms to increase nutritious organic food production for the state. Your support helps LEAF develop its gardener and farmer training program with the aim of creating micro-enterprises that will serve to provide a living wage for Hawaii’s at-risk population. This is LEAF’s strategy for long term solutions to hunger and poverty and a welcome and sustainable one for both donor and those we serve.

LEAF Adopt-a-Crop Sponsors, $25,000 or more
This amount contributes to adopting a crop at one of LEAF’s Alliance of Farms. You can dedicate this in honor of someone, or in the company name, as you like. The plot will bear the name for a year and in perpetuity if you decide to adopt it annually. Your company will be invited to a makahiki festival at the time of harvest for a cultural celebration. Your employees are welcome to tend the plot as a company retreat and learning center on a regularly scheduled basis. Your company will receive recognition in all marketing media, TV, radio, print, a display table for your company at any public events through December 2010, and company logo and link on our website forever. LEAF is partnered with horticulture experts at CTAHR, College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, as well as local farmers and Native Hawaiian practitioners, who lend their knowledge and expertise.

This amount contributes to starting a food, flower, medicinal healing and meditation garden, which you can dedicate in honor of someone, or in the company name, as you like. The garden will bear the name for a year and in perpetuity if you decide to adopt it annually. Your company will be invited to a makahiki festival at the time of harvest for a cultural celebration. Your employees are welcome to tend and visit the garden as a company retreat on a regular basis. In consultation with your company, LEAF and our site partner(s), we will design a custom garden that reflects your company’s core values.
